Your marketing and sales experience is already a strong foundation, so I'd build a business that lets you use those strengths every day.

If I were starting today, I'd probably stay away from anything that promises quick money and focus on building something sustainable.

With your background in marketing and sales, I'd focus on a business where those skills give you an advantage rather than starting something completely new.
Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I've been thinking the same thing lately. Since I already have experience in marketing and sales, it would probably be smarter to build a business where those skills actually give me an edge instead of spending months learning an entirely new industry from scratch.
E-commerce still has potential, but competition is much higher than it was a few years ago.
I agree. E-commerce still looks attractive, but it definitely seems more competitive now. That's one of the reasons I'm trying to research all the different options before committing.
Don't spend your entire budget on one idea. Keep some cash aside for testing and unexpected expenses.
That's really practical advice. It would probably be a mistake to invest the entire budget immediately. Keeping some funds available for testing, marketing, and unexpected costs seems like a much safer approach.
If I had that budget, I'd invest heavily in building a strong brand instead of chasing trends.
I completely agree. Strong branding seems to be one of the biggest differences between businesses that last and those that disappear after a year or two. I'd rather spend time creating something people remember than chasing the latest trend.
Consider businesses with recurring revenue because they tend to be more predictable over time.
That's a great point.

The biggest opportunity is usually where there's less competition, not where everyone else is going.

Hello all, i'm looking for ideas on what online business is worth getting into with a budget of around $5–6k. I have experience in both marketing and sales.
I've been considering:
  • E-commerce
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Other online business models
I'd love to hear from people who are already operating at a significant level in these industries. What business models do you think have the most potential right now?
What would you focus on if you were starting today with a similar budget and background?
Am really a new bie here and this is my 1st post reading too.. do some searches and improve your skills and knowledge.
