"The point about looking for good traffic with poor monetization really stood out. Those hidden opportunities are where the best ROI usually comes from. Thanks for sharing your process!"
Appreciate that, AshleyRussell. Those are the listings I spend the most time looking for. If the traffic is already there but the monetization is weak, it usually tells me there's still plenty of value waiting to be unlocked.
"Really enjoyed this. Most people focus on what a site earns today, but the real question is what it could earn with a few smart improvements. That's where the value is."
Thanks, ElizabethBarnes! Potential is often much harder to measure than current earnings, but that's what creates the biggest opportunities. I always try to think about where a site could be six months from now rather than where it is today.
"I like your 'Can I clearly improve this website?' rule. It's such a simple filter, but it probably saves a lot of bad buying decisions. Great insights!"
Thanks, jmeyer! That one question has probably saved me from buying quite a few websites over the years. If I can't immediately see a realistic improvement plan, I usually move on.
"This was a great read. Too many buyers get distracted by vanity metrics, while the real opportunities are often sitting in neglected websites with solid foundations."
Thanks, Tracysantana! I agree. Vanity metrics can look impressive, but they're not always what drives long-term value. A neglected site with solid fundamentals is often much more interesting to me.
"Buying is definitely where the profit is made. If you can spot untapped potential before everyone else, the exit becomes much easier. Thanks for sharing your experience!"
Well said, ataylor763. If you can recognize potential before everyone else does, you've already given yourself a huge advantage. Everything after that becomes much easier.
This is a solid reminder that research always pays off.
Thanks, LisaRamirez! Absolutely. A little extra research upfront can save a lot of money and frustration later on.
Your process makes a lot of sense. Appreciate the transparency.
Thanks, Tammy Williams! I'm glad it was helpful. I tried to share the same process I personally follow instead of making it sound more complicated than it really is.
This was packed with useful advice.
Thanks, MichelleHensley! Happy to hear that. I'll probably share a few more examples from past flips in future posts since every deal teaches something different.
I completely agree that the purchase price matters most.
Thanks, TerriCasey. I completely agree. Paying the right price gives you much more flexibility when it's time to grow or eventually sell the website.
Excellent tips for anyone interested in website flipping.
Appreciate the kind words, KerrySoto! Hopefully it gives people a few practical ideas they can apply the next time they're browsing listings.
Very informative post. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you, Dawny Oliver! I appreciate you taking the time to read it. Hopefully it helps others become a little more selective and patient when looking for their next website purchase.
The focus on upside instead of current income is a smart strategy.
Thanks, bstevenson! That's always been my approach. Current income matters, but I get much more excited by a website that still has obvious untapped potential.
