Hey everyone,

I’m 27 and currently trying to get my finances back on track. I have a regular full-time job, but after rent, bills, and everyday expenses, there isn’t much left at the end of the month.

I’ve tried a few different things online over the years, but nothing has turned into a reliable source of extra income. At this point, I’m looking for something legitimate that I can build alongside my job.

I’m not looking for handouts or asking anyone for money. I’d genuinely like to hear from people who have managed to build a side hustle, freelance business, online service, or any other realistic source of additional income.

If you were starting from scratch today with limited money and only a few hours available each day, what would you focus on learning or doing?

Any practical advice, personal experiences, or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes, I’ve seen this happen. A feature was ready from the technical side, but the privacy review took longer than expected. We had to wait before releasing it.

Honestly, I’d start with one skill rather than trying five different side hustles at once. Pick something people already pay for, spend a few weeks learning it, and start offering a simple service.

I’ve tried enough online ideas to know that there is no magic shortcut. The approach that worked best for me was simple: learn something useful, practice it, find someone who needs it, and keep improving. It took longer than I expected, but it was much more realistic than chasing quick-money ideas.

Don’t compare your beginning with someone else’s results. Focus on learning, getting your first client, and improving from there.

If money is tight, I’d prioritize skills over inventory-based businesses. You don’t need to buy products, rent space, or invest heavily in advertising. Spend your available time learning, creating examples, networking, and contacting potential clients. It may feel slow at first, but you’re building an asset in the form of a marketable skill.

I would start with something you already know. It is much easier to improve an existing skill than to learn everything from zero.

Your first goal shouldn't necessarily be making a huge amount of money. Try to make your first ₹1,000 online through legitimate work. Then learn what worked and build on it.

I was in a similar situation a few years ago. What helped me most was choosing one service and sticking with it instead of constantly jumping between different online income ideas.
