Hi everyone,

Over the past few weeks, I've been spending quite a bit of time reading about domain flipping, watching case studies, and browsing domain marketplaces. The more I learn, the more I realize there are a lot of different opinions. Some people say domain investing is still one of the best online businesses if you're patient, while others believe the market has become saturated and it's much harder to make consistent sales.
I'd really like to hear from people who are actively buying and selling domains in 2026.
One thing I've noticed is that there are success stories everywhere people buying a domain for $10 or $20 and selling it months later for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. But I also know there are plenty of domains that never receive a single offer. That's why I'm trying to separate realistic expectations from the hype.
For those of you with experience, I'd appreciate your thoughts on a few things:
One thing I'm especially interested in learning is how experienced investors avoid buying domains that look valuable but never actually sell. That seems to be one of the biggest mistakes beginners make.
If you've been flipping domains for several years, I'd love to hear about your journey. What was your first successful sale? What mistakes did you make when you started? If you were starting over today with a limited budget let's say $300 $500 how would you build your portfolio?
I'm also curious whether you think niche domains are becoming more valuable than generic keyword domains, especially with the rapid growth of AI, SaaS, gaming, cybersecurity, fintech, and creator-focused businesses.
I'd really appreciate any advice, lessons learned, or even cautionary stories. I think discussions from people who have actually bought and sold domains are far more valuable than promotional videos or articles promising easy money.
Looking forward to reading everyone's experiences. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!

For those of you with experience, I'd appreciate your thoughts on a few things:
- What type of domains have been selling well for you recently? Brandable names, exact-match keywords, AI-related domains, local business names, short domains, expired domains, or something else?
- How do you decide whether a domain is worth buying before someone else does?
- Do you mainly hand-register available domains, or do you focus on expired domain auctions?
- Which marketplaces have given you the most success when it comes to actual sales?
- How long do you normally hold a domain before deciding to renew it or let it expire?
- Do you rely on inbound offers, or do you actively contact businesses that might be interested in purchasing the domain?
- Have you noticed any trends this year that new domain investors should pay attention to?
