I'm sure most PPC marketers have at least one story like this.

You pause a campaign because, at the time, it feels like the right decision. Maybe inventory runs out, the client wants to refresh the product, or budgets get shifted around.

Then you switch it back on...

And somehow it never performs the way it used to.

For me, it was a Google Search campaign that had been delivering consistently for around eight months. The client decided to pause it during a product overhaul, so it stayed offline for about six weeks.

When we relaunched it, the results just weren't the same. Performance dropped, conversions became inconsistent, and it felt like all the optimization history had disappeared.

It took nearly four months of testing, tweaking, and gathering data before we got anywhere close to its previous performance.
