If you had to start from scratch today no audience, no website, no clients, and no existing income how would you build an online income?

There are more ways than ever to make money online, but not every method is worth your time. Some people recommend freelancing, while others swear by affiliate marketing, blogging, YouTube, eCommerce, selling digital products, or even building a small SaaS business.

If you could only choose one path, what would it be, and why?

Here are a few questions to get the discussion started:
  • Which online business model would you choose first?
  • How much money would you invest to get started?
  • What skills would you focus on learning?
  • How long do you think it would take to earn your first $1,000?
  • What mistakes would you avoid if you were starting over today?
  • Which tools, platforms, or resources would you recommend to beginners?
Whether you're already earning online or you're just getting started, share your experience. Your advice could help someone avoid common mistakes and choose a smarter path.

Let's hear your strategy if you had to start over today, how would you make money online?

If I had to start over, I'd learn a high-income skill like web development or copywriting and start freelancing. It's the quickest way to generate cash without needing an audience.

I'd probably focus on SEO and build niche websites. It takes time, but once traffic starts coming in, affiliate income can become pretty passive.

Honestly, YouTube would be my choice. The first year would be tough, but videos can keep bringing in views and income for years.

I'd avoid chasing every new "make money online" trend. I wasted months doing that when I started. Picking one path and sticking with it is much smarter.

Freelancing first, digital products second. Client work gives you income, and later you can package your knowledge into templates or courses.

If I had $500, I'd spend most of it on learning skills and building a simple website instead of buying expensive software.

I'd learn Google Ads or Facebook Ads and work with local businesses. Many small businesses need help getting customers online.

Affiliate marketing still works if you build helpful content. The days of spammy websites are over, though.

I'd start an email list much earlier. Social media algorithms change all the time, but your email subscribers belong to you.

I'd choose freelancing because it doesn't require thousands of visitors or a huge following. One client can change everything.

Learning AI tools is probably the best investment right now. They make content creation, coding, and marketing much faster.

Instead of trying five different businesses, I'd spend six months mastering one. Consistency beats constantly starting over.

Blogging is still underrated. It takes patience, but combining SEO with affiliate marketing can become a solid long-term income source.

If I were starting today, I'd build a personal brand on LinkedIn or X while offering freelance services. People hire people they trust.

I'd stay away from dropshipping unless I had experience with paid advertising. It looks easy on YouTube, but it's much harder in reality.

My advice to beginners is simple: don't expect passive income immediately. Most passive income starts with a lot of active work.
