My workflow is pretty simple: optimize the campaign first, then creatives, and finally dive deep into placements and zones once enough data comes in.

I've noticed that small optimizations at the placement level often have a bigger impact than making major changes to the campaign itself.

Every traffic source has hidden gems. The challenge is having the patience to find them without wasting too much budget.

For me, optimization is a continuous process. Even placements that perform well today might slow down next month, so I keep monitoring everything.

Data has taught me not to make assumptions. I've had placements I expected to fail become top performers and others I expected to win completely disappoint me.

I think you're asking the right question. Choosing a traffic source gets you into the game, but understanding traffic quality is what usually determines whether your campaigns become profitable.

I learned this lesson the hard way. I almost stopped using a traffic source because my first campaign performed poorly. Later, I realized only a few placements were responsible for the losses. Once I excluded them, the campaign became profitable.

I think traffic quality will always matter more than the source itself. Every network has premium and low-quality inventory. The trick is figuring out where your best users are coming from.

I usually start broad, collect enough data, and then narrow my focus. Trying to optimize placements too early can sometimes eliminate traffic that just needed more volume to prove itself.

I've been noticing something interesting while running campaigns.

The same traffic source can produce completely different results depending on where the traffic is actually coming from. Some placements perform incredibly well, while others barely convert.

That got me thinking...

Maybe it's not about choosing the "best" traffic source. Maybe it's about finding the highest-quality traffic within that source.

For those of you with more experience, how do you usually optimize your campaigns?

Do you spend most of your time analyzing placements, zones, and sub-IDs, or do you focus more on campaign-level optimization first?

I'd love to hear how others approach this and what's worked best for you.
